Saunders Machine Works has developed a modular vise system specifically for use on MR-1. For more information on how the SMW Mod Vises work, check out these videos.

The kit includes a 20” x 6” x 1” thick aluminum pallet that features the necessary hole patterns to secure it to the MR-1 baseplates. Included with the kit are the fixed position and adjustable position SMW mod vises. All of the vise components are manufactured out of steel for excellent wear resistance and usable life.

The included reversible jaw inserts have two sides. One side has a smooth surface for holding parts with delicate finishes. The other side has serrated edges for gripping raw stock for maximum retention during roughing.

The 6”x20” pallets can be oriented either along the X direction or the Y direction. Up to 3 pallets can be installed on the machine at a time.

The SMW mod vise has a maximum opening of 14.5”.
